About Us
Ladybug Toyshop is a one-momma show that started as what seemed like a pipe dream in a hospital room.
In November of 2021, I was admitted to the hospital for what would end up being a three-month-long period between my 6-week antepartum stay and my newborn son's 6-week NICU stay. It was a time of great uncertainty and very high anxiety. To keep my mind and hands busy, I picked up my hook and got to work. With my world spiraling all around me, crochet kept me grounded. I started making small animals and giving them away to other patients. It was interesting to me how these turned into more than just gifts for the other babies, the small critters also seemed to bring a small joy to the other parents.
Since leaving the hospital I have put in countless hours improving my skills and working to expand my current operation. The time spent in the hospital and the NICU instilled a very strong appreciation for being able to stay with my son. I attempted to return to the workforce after my son was discharged and after a few months it just became clear that working outside of the house was not a good fit for me or my family. So when you support this small business, you allow a still-healing momma to put her heart into her home.
